What to expect
This is what your first class looks like
Kids
ages 8 to 16, 19:30 tot 20:30- 1
Coming in
Everyone comes in and we go over the ground rules of the gym again. - 2
Games as a warm-up
Tag and reaction drills. Play holds their attention and warms the body up. - 3
One technique
A single thing per class, in short blocks of a few minutes with plenty of repetition. - 4
Practice against resistance
With a partner or on the pad, always as a game and never at full contact. - 5
Closing
What went well, and one thing to practise at home. Often something about standing up for yourself.
Adults
17 and over, 20:30 tot 21:30- 1
Check-in
A short arrival, attention on the room, and a word if there is anything the instructor should take into account. - 2
Warm-up
Building up calmly, mobility and strength, so your body can take the class. - 3
Technique block
One technique step by step, slow and clean first, then up to speed. - 4
Under pressure
Applied in a realistic scenario, with resistance, pace and fatigue. - 5
Wrap-up
Cooling down, a short look back and naming what went better than last time.
No experience needed
Everyone starts once. The instructor knows you are new and explains everything again.
Sportswear is enough
A T-shirt, sports trousers and clean indoor shoes. Gear to practise with is waiting for you.
You train at your own level
You practise with someone who matches your pace and your strength. Taking part comes before doing it perfectly.
Questions
Frequently asked questions about the trial class
Is krav maga suitable for beginners?
Yes. Krav maga is built on movements your body already knows, so you need no background in martial arts. In your first class you learn a handful of things properly, rather than twenty things halfway.
Do I have to be fit to take part?
No. You train at your own pace and the drills can be adjusted. Plenty of people start precisely because they have not done any sport for a while. The instructor keeps an eye on you and offers an alternative where needed.
Is it dangerous?
You practise with clear agreements about pace and force, and control comes before hitting hard. The pace only goes up when you and your partner are ready for it. Everyone in the gym is there to learn, and that helps more than any rule.
From what age can I take part?
Kids train from 8 up to and including 16, from 19:30 to 20:30. From 17 you train with the adults, from 20:30 to 21:30. For kids, the parent or guardian books and confirms the trial class.
What does a membership cost after the trial class?
A membership starts at € 26,00 a month for kids and at € 32,00 a month for adults. You choose between a year membership with the best price and a flex membership you can cancel monthly. See all memberships.
What do I bring to my first class?
Sportswear, clean indoor shoes and a bottle of water. That is all you need: for the trial class you borrow the equipment from the gym. If you keep coming, buy your own mouthguard, shin guards and gloves: cleaner, and a better fit. Come ten minutes before the start, so there is time to say hello.
How we train
You practise with people who want you to learn it. Nobody has anything to prove here.
Control over force, repetition over spectacle, and making mistakes is part of it.
